Service Development Director
Pete is a Service Development Director for Inspira.
He started out his professional youth work career in 1989 in Buckinghamshire and has been involved in youth, community and adult development work since gaining his qualification as a youth and community worker at Leicester Polytechnic.
Pete has always had a strong commitment to voluntary work and has been instrumental in founding and supporting a number of 3rd sector youth work initiatives in both Cumbria and Lancashire and is currently actively involved in two such initiatives. During his career he has continued to grow professionally by taking advantage of a variety of training opportunities and in 2010 gained a post graduate Advanced Certificate in Developing Professional Practice from Lancaster University.
Having worked and gained youth work experience in a variety of roles, Pete joined Inspira, formerly Connexions Cumbria Ltd in 2001, initially developing youth services through an integrated operational delivery model targeting both young people from the ‘at risk’ groups and offering universal services. He is extremely passionate about youth support services and is well regarded within Cumbria, with a reputation for getting results and making things happen. Pete has a good track record when it comes to securing additional funds and resources and his ability to form clear and effective relationships and respond positively to pressure, led to his appointment in 2009 as Director (Development).
In his current role Pete’s main areas of responsibility are to participate in the strategic development and leadership of the Company and to keep abreast of policy drivers and the national context in relation to developing services for young people and adults in Cumbria. He has been instrumental in establishing and managing innovative schemes such as SpeakUp, Wheels to Work and the pilot for National Citizen Service.
