The Role

Our role profile tells the full story, but as an Administration Support Apprentice, you will work as a key team member in our busy Carlisle or Blackpool Office. You will support the existing administration teams with the efficient application of all required services including answering telephones, greeting customers, maintaining electronic records, supporting Advisers in their preparation for delivering customer appointments and supporting group work delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with motivation to work in a busy office environment to gain a wide range of administrative skills along with a formal business administration qualification.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting a longer-term career with internal progression opportunities.

This post is fixed term for 18 months initially, with potential for permanent employment following the successful completion of the apprenticeship. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, however requests for part time hours will also be considered.

 

About You  

You will have:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths or English (expected or achieved)
  • Knowledge and/or an interest in Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good communication skills
  • An understanding of good customer service and telephony skills
  • A willingness to learn

The Role

As a Trainee Careers Adviser, you will join our supportive and hard-working teams in either Workington, Carlisle or Barrow.  You will deliver careers guidance to adults who may or may not be in work as well as working with young people to provide careers information, advice and guidance and personal support to those at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training).  You will support people to make decisions about their future careers, including training opportunities and career progression.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Proactively managing a caseload of participants providing individualin-depth support throughout their journey from initial assessment through to securing and sustaining gainful employment by
  • Providing high quality 1:1 diagnostic career information and advice work
  • Working on a 1:1 basis developing comprehensive action planswith individual customers
  • Providing intensive support toparticipants, motivating and encouraging candidates to overcome any personal barriers to employment and building confidence
  • Supporting participantsto identify and develop transferable skills
  • Supporting customers with the use of appropriateonline resources
  • Planning and delivering group sessions to meet the needs of customers
  • Maintaining an awareness and understandingof the local labour market and building and maintaining external relationships to help support participants into suitable employment
  • Completing documentation to the required standard and within required timescales
  • Following up with customers to ensure advice given has made a difference.
  • Achieving contractual targets.

About You  

This position offers the opportunity for real life work experience and skills building whilst gaining a formal career guidance qualification.   We would be pleased to hear from recent graduates or those wanting a career change!

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE grade 4 / C or equivalent);
  • The ability to identify, establish and maintain effective working partnerships for the benefit of customers;
  • The ability to keep accurate and up to date records with a good attention to detail. This includes data entry on electronic systems;
  • Good interactive skills and the ability to respond to demanding pressures and to meet deadlines;
  • An ability to work on own initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Our role profile tells the full story, but as a Skills & Development Adviser you will be part of our delivery team working on a variety of dynamic and motivational employability contracts. We work with both unemployed adults as well as with young people to provide careers information, advice and guidance and personal support to those at risk of becoming NEET.

This role involves:

  • Individual diagnostic advice work;
  • Individual information, advice and support work;
  • Delivering dynamic personal development and career management courses to groups;
  • Meeting required contractual performance targets.

 

About You  

You will have:

  • Experience of working with adults or young people, on a 1:1 basis or in groups;
  • Experience of delivering Careers Information, Advice and Guidance;
  • Ability to manage a caseload of individuals;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working partnerships;
  • Ability to keep accurate and up to date records with a good attention to detail;
  • Ability to achieve targets and meet deadlines;
  • A flexible approach to working hours.

 

Whilst not essential for delivery of all contracts, applications would be particularly welcome from practitioners qualified to level 4 or level 6 in careers information, advice and guidance.
