Would you like to join our delivery teams working on a variety of dynamic and motivational employability contracts? We have fantastic opportunities for a Skills & Development Adviser to join our friendly and hardworking team in Carlisle.  We work with both unemployed adults as well as with young people to provide careers information, advice and guidance and personal support to those at risk of becoming NEET.

This role involves:

  • Individual diagnostic advice work;
  • Individual information, advice and support work;
  • Delivering dynamic personal development and career management courses to groups;
  • Meeting required contractual performance targets.

Inspira is currently recruiting a Local Employment Engagement Coordinator to increase the engagement of employers in careers and education activities in schools and colleges throughout Cumbria through a project called The Link.

Working in partnership with Cumbria Careers Hub, schools, colleges and employers, The Link supports the delivery of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership‘s Local Industrial Strategy and Careers Strategy.

We are recruiting a full time Local Employment Engagement Coordinator to coordinate relevant activities associated with The Link.

Successful candidates will possess a level 4 professional qualification and a relevant degree, project management or supervisory qualification would be advantageous.  Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging employers in activities relating to Careers and Enterprise and/or engaging school and college leaders in projects and activities.  In addition, previous experience of engaging and influencing stakeholders and leading and coordinating projects is essential as well as knowledge of the education system, local labour market and barriers to employment faced by young people.

We have been successfully supporting unemployed adults back into work or training for a number of years and due to growth in this area of work we are recruiting to Employability Advisers to deliver on a number of our adult contracts in Carlisle.

Whilst we would be delighted to hear from you if you have previous experience of working in the employability sector, or if you have a level 4 Careers Information Advice and Guidance qualification, we are also interested to hear from people who have worked in other sectors where you’ve relished the opportunity to achieve a personal target whilst excelling at providing outstanding customer service.  You could have experience working in sectors such as sales, hospitality, retail, travel, education, recruitment or training.

The roles will involve proactively managing a caseload of participants providing individual in-depth support throughout their journey from initial assessment through to securing and sustaining gainful employment by:

  • Providing high quality 1:1 diagnostic career information and advice work
  • Providing intensive support to participants, motivating and encouraging candidates to overcome any personal barriers to employment and building confidence
  • Working on a 1:1 basis developing comprehensive action plans with individual customers
  • Supporting participants to identify and develop transferable skills and support them in the use of appropriate online resources
  • Planning and delivering group sessions to meet the needs of customers as required
  • Maintaining an awareness and understanding of local labour market and building and maintaining external relationships to help support participants into suitable employment
  • Completing all relevant documentation to the required standard and within required timescales
  • Proactively managing own caseload, following up with customers to ensure advice given has made a difference.
  • Achieving all contractual targets

A minimum level 4 NVQ qualification in Careers Information, Advice & Guidance and experience of working in a target driven environment would be an advantage although not essential as training can be provided for the right candidate.
