Employers wanted for young people’s ‘Apprentice’ workshops

Social enterprise company, Inspira, is calling on employers and community organisations in Eden and North Cumbria to take part in ‘Apprentice’ style workshops this summer, part of their dynamic and innovative National Citizen Service (NCS) programme aimed at 16 & 17 year olds.

Over 400 local young people will be spending time getting to know their local communities and experiencing the world of work, while living independently, learning how to work as a team and organising and setting up social action projects.

“As part of the core three week programme we have introduced apprentice style workshops to help young people learn about being enterprising and taking the initiative in the workplace,” says Nicky Jackson, area manager in North Cumbria for Inspira.
“With youth unemployment a concern in Cumbria, we know this type of workshop will help build valuable employability skills, essential for a young person to make a successful transition into the world of work.”

This year the NCS programmes are expected to be busier than ever, start dates for the three week programme start on 30th June, 14th July, 28th July and 4th August, followed by a further 30 hours of volunteering on their social action project.
Inspira are currently visiting all the schools in the region, to promote the benefits of participating to young people.
If you would like to get involved in this project please contact Inspira on 01931 711300, Gillan way, Penrith. Information about NCS can be found at www.inspira.org.uk/ncs and www.ncsyes.co.uk
