Inspira has been running successful motivational programmes for unemployed adults in Cumbria, Blackpool and Fleetwood, and is now looking to expand further into Lancashire.
“We are looking for socially minded employers who would be willing to offer adults who are ready to gain valuable work experience, the chance to do so within their own company,” said Daniel Carter, Business Development Manager for Inspira.
Feedback from the latest set of courses highlight how different and effective Jobtrain is to the motivation and confidence of participants.
Marie’s story
Marie, fifty four years old and a single parent had been away from the workplace since 1995.
When Marie was referred to Jobtrain, she felt apprehensive. She was worried about joining a group of people whom she did not know and wondered what difference participating in the programme would make to her life. Marie also felt that her age went against her when applying for jobs.
Once on the course, Marie found that she relaxed into the group situation quickly and was astounded how well everyone bonded. Marie took part in a range of teambuilding activities where she started to make tentative conclusions about her strengths. As Marie progressed through the programme her confidence grew and she found that she could work well with relative strangers. She was amazed by the final challenge and how everyone pulled together.
Jobtrain lifted Marie’s spirits, her confidence levels increased enough to enable her to interact with people freely and for her to feel that her age was no longer a barrier.
