The special education needs and disability (SEND) reforms have radically changed the way that Inspira works with young people with SEND.
During this academic year, we supported the Local Authority by chairing and producing Education Health Care plans for 116 young people in Cumbria who had their statements transferred to Education Health Care Plans (EHCP’s). Sixty-five were completed for young people in year 11; and 51 for young people in year 14.
Fitting closely to the changes to the ECHP’s, the Independent Support Contract allowed us to support parents and young people in years 9, 11 and 14 who were having their Statements converted to EHCPs. From September 2014 until the end of May 2015 Inspira supported 108 parents and 200 young people to ensure that their views were acknowledged and recorded on their EHC plans. We will continue to undertake this work as the contract moves into a payment by results model for Year 2.
